Student Council

Student Council is a commitment made by 14 students each year to do more for their school. There are five officers and nine representatives. These dedicated students meet twice a month. At the meetings they discuss various topics and report back to the classes they represent. Their job is to provide service to Saint Mary's in various ways. One way they do this is to provide extra activities for students of all levels. Examples of this are dances, movie night, skate night, reading Christmas stories to younger students and the Easter egg hunt. These students also give tours of our school during Catholic Schools Week and organize and deliver a Memorial Day Program for our Veterans. Students also run a snack bar during the last five minutes of lunch.
Student Council  raises money for the school through dress down days and the "famous" lollipop sale. Each year Student Council provides the lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs on field day. The Council has also made the following purchases for the school: shades in five classrooms, intercoms in the hallways, mulch for the play-scape, P.E. equipment, white boards for classrooms and Spring Show props.
Students are elected to the positions on Student Council. You must be in fifth through eighth grade, dedicated to your school and willing to make a commitment of your time. Officer elections are held in the spring and representatives are elected in the fall.
