The purpose of the Saint Mary's chapter of the National Honor Society is "to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students." The students who meet these requirements in scholarship, leadership, character, and service in their first two years are elected in their junior year to this organization.
Students must have a minimum 3.33 GPA to be eligible. Then they must be voted into the National Honor Society after having proven that they excel in the other three pillars of leadership, character, and service.
The Induction ceremony is held in November each year.
