Visit Us and Shadow

What is a Shadow Day?

A shadow day is an opportunity for students in grades 2 -12 to be a "Saint for a Day." Students are welcome to visit our school at any time during the year, provided that the visit is prearranged.

During a shadow day a student might be able to participate in a number of activities. These activities may include:

  • an all-school liturgy
  • an all-school assembly
  • participate in classroom discussions
  • watch an athletic practice
  • stay for an athletic game
  • make new friends

Who can I Shadow?

You will be paired with a St. Mary's Parish School Ambassador and will attend classes and activities as if you were a Saint Mary's student. You may request a certain student to shadow, but this does not guarantee that you will be able to shadow that particular student. Otherwise, you will be paired with one of the student ambassadors who has similar interests as you.

What time should I arrive at St. Mary's and where should I go?

Shadows report to the main office at 7:45.  St. Mary's ambassadors will pick up their shadows by 7:50 a.m. School is dismissed at 2:15 (elementary) or 2:19 p.m. (high school). Shadows can be picked up in the main office at the end of the day.

What do I do for lunch?

Shadows can bring their own lunch or purchase lunch the school cafeteria. Lunches are posted on the school's web site.

What do I do for lunch?

Shadows will be given a voucher to use in the cafeteria to purchase a lunch.

When can I Shadow?

A student can shadow any day of the week St. Mary's has classes. *Please note that at the high school we do not allow shadows immediately prior to and during Midterm /Final Exams.   Please call one week in advance to schedule a shadow day. This is important as spaces are limited.
